Hydroxypropyl methacrylate (HPMA) is an ester of methacrylic acid. HPMA copolymerizes readily with a wide variety of monomers. HPMA is used in the manufacture of acrylic polymers for adhesives, inks, and coatings for automotive, appliance and metal applications. The added hydroxyl groups improve adhesion to surfaces, incorporate cross-link sites, and impart corrosion, fogging, and abrasion resistance, as well as contribute to low odour, colour, and volatility.
