Borax is an important boron compound, a mineral, and a salt of boric acid. It is used in cleaning products, cosmetics, toiletries and external pharmaceuticals. It is also used as corrosion inhibitor in water treatment chemicals, adhesives, flame retardant, a buffer and catalyst for organic dyes, a carrier for herbicides, and a degreasing buffer in enamelling processes.
